Liam Neeson Hasn't Been Asked To Appear in Star Wars Episode VII

Not that it's much of a surprise, since his character died in Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace and was barely mentioned by the end of the prequel trilogy, but it seems Liam Neeson has not been contacted about reprising his role as Qui-Gon Jinn in Star Wars Episode VII.

During a new interview with Hey U Guys, the veteran actor said that he would absolutely consider a return to the franchise if asked.

"I certainly don't want anybody else playing Qui-Gon Jinn," he deadpanned when asked whether he would consider a return to Star Wars if asked. "I don't know what the current story is at all; I think it's Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher, their characters' generation. I came way, way before that."

For most film franchises, it might have been a silly question -- but there is a precedent for Force ghosts to show up in the Star Wars franchise. Of course, as he notes it's difficult to imagine who would be seeing Qui-Gon's ghost since nobody involved in the upcoming trilogy (that we know of) had any dealings with Obi-Wan's teacher and mentor.

Of course, Neeson seems fairly at peace with the fact that the franchise has moved on. He also recently said he would have liked to play Ra's al Ghul again if given the opportunity, but days later, The CW announced that they had cast Riddick's Matt Nable in the role for Arrow.

Neeson's next appearance will be in A Walk Among the Tombstones.
