Max Landis Says He Was Fired From Power Rangers Movie

Max Landis, well-known for writing American Ultra, Chronicle, BBC's Dirk Gently, and comic book Superman: American Alien reached out through Twitter to announce he was fired from the Power Rangers movie.

The first trailer for Power Rangers debuted yesterday at New York Comic Con 2016 and recieved high praise with some comparing it to the look and feel of Landis' found-footage film Chronicle.

It's been rumored that Landis was attached to the film, but he kept quiet about the Power Rangers project when asked. In traditional Max Landis style - he tweeted immediately after the trailer hit the internet to clear up some misunderstandings.

I wrote a silly, fun, goofy retro teen action adventure movie.

They fired me, and five or so writers later, it appears they made Chronicle.

There was no explanation as to why Landis was fired from the project or who the other writers were. However, in the past he has voiced his opinion on writing for films that are "made by commitee" saying that by the time a script hits the screen, it's completely different than intended.

Maybe if we keep an eye on his Twitter account, we'll find out why.
