Novelist and comic book writer Neil Gaiman is teaming up with Blackberry for a Keep Moving Project. Through social media, Neil Gaiman will be asking fans to collaborate with him in creating a new multi-media series of short stories. According to BlackBerry, The goal of BlackBerry Keep Moving Projects is to help "some of the most innovative and imaginative artists in the world create something incredible – working with their communities and the new BlackBerry Z10 smartphone to see what is possible. Filmmakers will record their progress within a documentary that will be shared via a dedicated website – where the artists, their communities and the world at large can be a part of the artistic process as it happens – and learn how art, technology and community can interact, get inspired and deliver a powerful end result. The projects will be documented as they unfold and shared through social media, events and unique content partnerships." Neil Gaiman's project is "A Calendar of Tales," which is a series of stories, one for each month of the year. The project kicks off today, and fans can share ideas with Neil Gaiman via the BlackBerry Keep Moving Hub, his Twitter feed, and other community spaces. Based on fans' inspirations, Neil Gaiman will write twelve short stories over the period of a few weeks' time, posting his progress and drafts on the BlackBerry Keep Moving Hub for community interaction and feedback. Fans will also be invited to contribute to the stories with their own multi-media ideas – from illustrations to costume designs to short videos inspired by Neil's stories. When the project is complete, Neil will create a version of "Calendar of Tales" that will be sold for charity, as well as an online, multi-media experience that will weave the twelve stories of the year together. "I've always been fascinated by the relationship between fans and artists, and between art and technology," said Gaiman. "This project is a terrific way to explore all of those relationships, using the BlackBerry Z10 and the BlackBerry Keep Moving Hub to find out how technology and community interaction can inspire the artistic process, and elevate the work itself to another level."
