There are plenty of themes and lessons to be taken from "The Hunger Games" book (and trilogy), but I'll save most of those for an 8th grade english class coming to a school near you.  There is one theme that is constant throughout the book--that of oppression.  Of a group of folks practicing class warfare against another.  And it looks like this theme will carry strong into the film, based on the new clip released today. Quick setup: President Snow (Donald Sutherland) is talking to head Gamesmaker Seneca Crane (Wes Bentley) about the strategy of the upcoming games.

In case you weren't aware, President Snow is an evil, evil man. His plan with the Hunger Games is exactly the type of oppression that The Capital exerts on a daily basis. Keep the so-called inferior people grinding it out every day, but give them just a sliver of hope so they keep going. "The Hunger Games" is based on the Suzanne Collins novel of the same name. It hits theaters March 23.
