It's no illusion. Lionsgate is now developing Now You See Me 3, despite the fact the first followup, "Now You See Me 2," is still more than a year away from hitting theaters. The secret behind this magic trick? According to Lionsgate, it's all part of the studio's strategy to to build and increase on their in-house franchises. With hot properties like The Hunger Games, Divergent getting closer to their inevitable conclusions, the studio is probably looking for their next tentpoles.
And as Lionsgate CEO Jon Feltheimer confirmed on a conference call with analysts this morning, Now You See Me 2 has officially finished production. Furthermore, Feltheimer said he thinks that the sequel could outperform the original at the box office, which grossed $350 million. The sequel to 2013's action comedy about bank-heisting illusionists reunites syats Mark Ruffalo, Woody Harrelson, Jesse Eisenberg, Isla Fisher, Dave Franco, Morgan Freeman, and Michael Caine. It is directed by Jon M. Chu.
Now You See Me 2 hits theaters on June 10, 2016.
