Outlast 2 Release Delayed Until 2017

When Red Barrel decided to show-off their demo for its upcoming Outlast 2 game, attendees lucky enough to play the teaser all agreed on one thing: It's seriously creepy. Standing as the sequel to the first Outlast title, the new game promises to throw unsettled gamers into a horrifying, religious nightmare. However, it appears as if it'll take a bit longer for the game to reach gamers since Outlast 2's release date has now been delayed until 2017.

In a post pushed to Outlast's Facebook, the game's creators wrote, "We had to make a difficult decision recently. After weighing our options we've decided to postpone Outlast 2's release until Q1 of 2017."

They went on to explain their decision to push back the release, telling fans they wanted to ensure their game is, "the best, most terrifying, most fulfilling" horror game possible. You can read their full statement below:

"We want you to know that we listen to your feedback, we see your excitement and we know you care about our work. Our mission as an indie studio is to deliver to you the best, most terrifying, most fulfilling experiences possible. That's why we're taking just a little bit more time to make sure our vision for Outlast 2 is in no way compromised and is the experience you deserve.

This is not the type of news we ever want to deliver, but we are so fully committed to the world we've built and to our awesome community that we could not, in good conscience, release a game who's limits haven't been tested to the extreme.

Thank you for understanding. We promise Outlast 2 will scare the crap out of you."

So far, fans have been able to watch Outlast 2's E3 demo through popular 'Let's Play' videos on Youtube. The demo shows gamers playing as Blake Langerman, a videographer who's investigating the murder of pregnant woman alongside his wife, Lynn. However, the two become separated and stranded in the Arizona desert after their helicopter crashes. Thrust into a seemingly abandoned area, players must navigate Blake through the terrifying terrain as he searches for his wife and ultimately tries to survive unspeakable horrors.
