The Frogman might not be up there with The Loch Ness Monster, Bigfoot, or the Chupacabra in terms of notoriety, but it doesn’t make the sight of it any less jarring.

That’s what reportedly happened to a Pokemon GO player named Sam Jacobs and his girlfriend in Loveland, Ohio. The two were minding their own business in between Loveland Madeira Road and Lake Isabella when they spotted a rather large frog in the water through the camera (via WCPO).

“We saw a huge frog near the water,” Jacobs wrote in an email. “Not in the game, this was an actual giant frog.”

That would be interesting enough on its own, but then Jacobs says the frog stood up and started walking.

“Then the thing stood up and walked on its hind legs. I realize this sounds crazy, but I swear on my grandmother’s grave this is the truth,” he wrote. “The frog stood about 4 feet tall. Either way, I’ve never seen anything like it.”

When they got home from their Pokemon expedition, they were told about the Loveland Frogman myth. It started in the 1970’s when a police officer spotted what looked to be a large frog walking on its hind legs. Since then the original story has been contested by a fellow officer, but Jacob’s new encounter will surely build up the myth once again.

If you happen to be Pokemon hunting in Loveland, make sure to always keep an eye on the water.
