Over the summer, rumors were swirling, claiming that Sam Claflin was cast in the new Power Rangers movie.

Those rumors spawned from a tweet Claflin sent out, reading, "Go go Power Rangers." Naturally, the Internet reacted and Claflin had his next big role after The Hunger Games because like always, if it's on the Internet it has to be true, right? Wrong!

Speaking with Claflin earlier today about this weekend's Hunger Games finale, The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2, we asked Claflin what happened with the Power Rangers rumors and if there was ever any truth to them.

"It's the scariest thing about social media," Claflin started. "What happened was, I was in a gym in Prague, visiting my wife who was filming out there. I was in the gym and on the television, came the Power Rangers. Having grown up on the Power Rangers as a kid, I simply tweeted, 'Go go Power Rangers.' I didn't even know there was a movie being made and, suddenly, I was being cast. There was no truth in any of it."

In conclusion, a catch phrase on social media is not a casting confirmation. "I think I'll tweet James Bond next in the hope I get cast in that next," Claflin joked after explaining the story.

You can see Sam Claflin as Finnick in The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2 in theaters starting November 20.
