New reports over Star Wars' second standalone feature have the film pegged as a Boba Fett origin story.
Fett, one of the original trilogy's most respected bounty hunters, was also featured in the prequel films as a young child. Left an orphan after his father, Jango Fett, died in Star Wars Episode II: Attack of the Clones, Boba's rise to the galaxy's most notorious bounty hunter is still un-chronicled. This standalone film would cover that story.
The rumors come quickly after the news that director Josh Trank (Chronicle, Fantastic Four) had departed the project. Lucasfilm is still searching for a replacement director, but Simon Kinberg will stay as the writer-producer. The second stand-alone Star Wars film will follow 2016's Rogue One, A story that follows the Rebels' theft of the Empire's Death Star blueprints.
What do you think of the rumors? Would you like to see a Boba Fett origin story? Let us know in the comments.
