SDCC: Star Wars Rebels Characters Could Show Up In Live Action Films

At the "Heroes of Star Wars Rebels" panel at this year's Comic-Con International: San Diego, executive producer Simon Kinberg hinted at the possibility that the animated characters from Star Wars Rebels could make the transition to live action on the big screen.

During the Q&A portion of the panel, a fan asked if there was any chance of seeing the Rebels characters in any of the Star Wars films, maybe in their own spinoff. Kinberg stopped short of implying that anything was in the works for the time being, but said that he "loves the characters animated, and would love to see them in live action."

Kinberg went on to say that the film and animated television divisions of Lucasfilm "are all in conversation with each other right now, and if the right combination of events happens," then live action Rebels in a movie could become a reality.

Star Wars Rebels will premiere on Disney XD in October.
