For Tim Burton's defunct Superman Lives, Superman (would've been played by Nicolas Cage) was to battle Brianiac, a super-intelligent alien. Much of the concept art that has surfaced depicts Brianiac as a green-skinned humanoid head with a spider like body. Why a spider's body? Because hairdresser-turn-film producer Jon Peters was, and still is, obsessed with "the fiercest killers in the insect kingdom."

The latest piece of concept art to surface features Christopher Walken's head, colored green, placed upon a spider-like body. Keep in mind, artists often use actors for concept art well before any casting decisions have been made. This may not be an indication that Walken was up for the role. Although, Burton did work with Walken on Batman Returns and Sleepy Hollow so it is not out of the realm of possibility.

This may be addressed in The Death of Superman Lives: What Happened? documentary but I haven't seen it yet.

Check out the artwork below.
