Earlier today, Schmoes Know broke the story that Universal has hired Cedric Nicolas-Troyan to direct The Huntsman Last week, many were stunned to learn director Frank Darabont (“The Green Mile”) had exited the project over “creative differences,” but Universal didn’t sit around sulking about it.

Cedric Nicolas-Troyan previously worked on Rupert Sanders’ 2012 film Snow White and the Huntsman as the second unit director and visual effects supervisor. He even received an Oscar nomination for the visual effects on the film. He was a second unit director on Disney’s Maleficent and at one time was attached to direct the Highlander reboot for Summit.
The sequel sends the Huntsman (Chris Hemsworth) on a quest to find the magic mirror (which has been stolen), forcing him to face not only his past but the evil Snow Queen who’s set on avenging her sister Ravenna’s death. Charlize Theron will return as the villainous Ravenna and Blunt is making a deal to play her sister, the evil Snow Queen. – The Wrap
The Huntsman will land in theaters April 22, 2016.
