Justified and Deadwood star Timothy Olyphant was a guest on Conan, where he was asked about his audition for role of Tony Stark/Iron Man in the 2008 Marvel film.
“A wonderful actor, Robert Downey Jr. and I, we screen tested on the same day,” Olyphant replied. He then joked, “And I’m still waiting to hear back. You know, those superhero movies are huge! That could be a real game changer.”

Olyphant shouldn’t feel too bad as Clive Owen (Inside Man) and Sam Rockwell (Iron Man 2) were also considered for Iron Man. That’s some nice company to be in.

Iron Man will next be seen in Avengers: Age Of Ultron, which arrives in theaters next month.
