Trick 'r Treat and Krampus Movie Get Comics Tie-Ins From Legendary, Marc Andreyko, Fiona Staples and More

Legendary Comics today announced a pair of new graphic novels centered on themes of holiday horror.

The publisher is taking twisted stories from the mind of Michael Dougherty from the screen to the printed page with the announcement of a pair of graphic novels based on his films Trick 'r Treat and Krampus. Hitting stores in the fall, the all-new books are tied into the world of Dougherty's anticipated big screen releases.

Each of the original graphic novels will feature a story by Dougherty, Zach Shields and
Todd Casey and a script by a well-known comic book writer -- Marc Andreyko of Manhunter and Batwoman for Trick 'r Treat and Witch Doctor's Brandon Seifert for Krampus. A battery of artists will contribute to the two books, including Eisner winner Fiona Staples for Trick 'r Treat.

"I've been having way too much fun working with Legendary and the rest of my team bringing the ancient legend of Krampus to the big screen, and I look forward to expanding the film's dark Christmas mythology onto the comic page," Dougherty said. "And hopefully the fans who've been patiently waiting for Trick 'r Treat 2 will enjoy this deeper peek into Sam's world until he finally rises from the pumpkin patch once more. Happy Holidays."

This isn't the first time Trick 'r Treat has been adapted to comics, of course; around the time of the first film's release, there was a DC Comics one-shot, also written by Andreyko.
