WWE is taking the vacant cruiserweight division online to their network with the upcoming Global Cruiserweight Series this summer.

The series, which will feature some of the best cruiserweights--meaning atheletes under 205 pounds--from across the globe in a 10-week series to determine the very best in the world. The series starts with 32 competitors in the inaugural series, so it sounds like if it does well, there could be another one down the line.

Does this mean that the Cruiserweight Title could resurface? It hasn't been seen since Hornswoggle had it in 2007. The pint-sized champion won the title at the Cruiserweight Open at The Great American, but had to relinquish the title by Vickie Guerrero. With smaller stars like Daniel Bryan, CM Punk being a cornerstone of the company in the past few years, it could be a big benefactor in getting new stars over without having to be buried by the "bigger" stars (looking at you, Austin Aries).

The participants haven't been announced yet, but the announcement on WWE.com stated that it would feature cruiserweights from all over, so you could have some mystery and surprise signings to the company in the next few months.

WWE's Global Cruiserweight Series premieres Wednesday, July 13th, 2016.
