Jennifer Lawrence will return to work with David O. Russell, the filmmaker behind her award-winning film The Silver Linings Playbook, for American Bulls--t [SFW language ours], an upcoming thriller about the FBI's Abscam operation. Abscam was a sting operation run in the late 1970s and early 1980s. The operation initially targeted trafficking in stolen property but was converted to a public corruption investigation. Ultimately it led to the conviction of a United States Senator, five members of the House of Representatives, one member of the New Jersey State Senate, members of the Philadelphia City Council, and an inspector for the Immigration and Naturalization Service. Lawrence will star opposite The Dark Knight star Christian Bale and The Hangover's Bradley Cooper, both of whom were already on board before Lawrence signed. Lawrence will play Bale's wife in the film, reports Deadline. Lawrence is busy this year, filming sequels to The Hunger Games and X-Men: First Class; she's widely regarded as a frontrunner for the Academy Award for Best Actress for her performance in The Silver Linings Playbook. Lawrence has already won the SAG Award and a Golden Globe for the role.
