Charmed fans, rejoice! The news you have been waiting for all these years has come! The CW has taken one for Charmed fans and has announced they are looking to reboot the magical series.

Having originally aired on WB, Charmed will be making a comeback to The CW if all things go well and spells are cast correctly. The network has ordered a script for the reboot which will reimagine the original series.

If you are wondering who is behind the reboot, then you will surely be excited. The network is sourcing from its own pool of talent to bring the franchise back to life. The team behind Jane the Virgin will be backing the series as Jennie Snyder Urman, Ben Silverman, Jessica O'Toole, and Amy Rardin will be part of the revival. The pilot's director will be Brad Silberling, and CBS TV Studios will provide assistance.

According to reports, the Charmed revival will be written by O'Toole and Rardin. Its story will be based off the premise created by Snyder Urman. Originally, the Charmed show was created by Constance M. Burge and produced by Spelling TV and CBS Studios. The beloved drama ran for eight seasons and followed a trio of sisters who moonlighted as powerful witches. The original cast included Shannen Doherty, Holly Marie Combs, and Alyssa Milano. However, Rose McGowan was eventually brought in to replace Doherty after a controversial casting shake-up.

If you are not familiar with Charmed, then it is time you got acquainted. The long-running series is a perfect fit for The CW has the network has a history of pushing inventive, edgy reimaginings of nostalgic franchises. Filled with supernatural themes, Charmed will be an excellent pushback for The CW against other network shows like Freeform's Shadowhunters. The original series followed sisters Phoebe, Prue, and Piper after they reunited. The trio learn they are the most powerful witches in the world and are collectively known as 'The Charmed Ones.' Their goodwill and magical gifts can be combined into a mystic force known as "Power of Three" which helps the sisters protect civilians from underworld threats.

In the past year, several fan-favorite shows from the 1990s have been revived. In November, Netflix brought back Gilmore Girls for a special miniseries which followed Lorelai and Rory Gilmore years after the original series end. The special dominated the streaming site and social media chatter, so it is little surprise to hear that The CW is looking to buy into one of the WB's most beloved shows.

Of course, if you are a fan of the original Charmed series, there are still stories to discover outside of the show itself. A comic book tie-in was created for the Halliwell sisters that Dynamite Entertainment headed up. Next year, the comic series will relaunch, but it will no longer continue its canonicity. The decision had plenty of readers concerned, but now fans know it may have been made to prevent competition between the comics and The CW's reboot.

Right now, there is no word on casting information or possible settings. As more news breaks, ComicBook.com will be your one-stop shop for all things Charmed, so keep tuned!
