A Cure for Wellness marks Gore Verbinski's return to the world of horror following his big-budget entries in the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise. Considering how effective Verbinski's direction was in 2002's The Ring, A Cure for Wellness has a lot of potential and could inspire the director to delve deeper into the horror world.

The film's plot also sounds similar to Scorsese's Shutter Island, another psychological period piece centered around an institution, but it'll be tough for Dane DeHaan to compete with Leonardo DiCaprio.
