One of the more underrated horror films of the '10s is You're Next, the darkly comic home invasion movie, which was equal parts terrifying and hilarious. A huge highlight of the film was Sharni Vinson, who gave horror fans an all-new badass who took no prisoners as she attempted to stay alive in the midst of an attack by intruders. Vinson is headed back to the horror world with the supernatural kidnapping film The House on Willow Street, which just got a brand-new trailer.
The film's synopsis is as follows:
"The perfect kidnapping goes gruesomely awry in this shock-a-minute, supernatural wild ride. Led by the tough-as-nails Hazel (Vinson), a band of desperate criminals abduct Katherine (Carlyn Burchell), the daughter of an ultra-wealthy family, for ransom. What the gang doesn't realize is that although they have Katherine's body, her soul is already in possession of a demonic force that's about to turn the tables on them. Cue a cavalcade of carnage, all building up to a totally twisted, off-the-rails finale."
The trailer starts simple enough, looking like a relatively straightforward thriller in the vein of Don't Breathe, but then things go completely bananas. It'll be nice to see Vinson playing a villainous character and the supernatural stuff looks off-the-charts crazy, so the film should have some cool effects, if nothing else.
The House on Willow Street hits select theaters and VOD on March 24.
