Emerald City is NBC's innovative new take on The Wizard of Oz. We'll be recapping the entire series each week on Friday nights.

The episode starts with Dorothy and Toto sleeping on the side of the road, when they're awakened by a loud bang. Dorothy finds Lucas testing out her gun on the side of the ocean. Lucas argues with Dorothy for a bit and mentions that he killed Mombi to save Dorothy.

A short time afterwards, Dorothy and Lucas join a caravan of circus performers traveling to the city. One of the performers points out a large storm gathering in the distance, where the Witch of the East's keep is. The caravan then gets stopped by Eamonn and his men.

Tip is pretty distraught about her transformation into a girl, so Jack says they should head into the Emerald City to find more medicine and turn her back to a boy.

Lucas tries to leave the caravan, but Dorothy says that the soldiers can take her to the Emerald City. Lucas ends up grabbing Dorothy when Toto follows him out of the cart and hides her, just as Eamonn mentions that they need to find the girl and kill her, per the Wizard's orders.

Back in the Emerald City, one of the Wizard's assistants leads him to the Eternal Soldier in the center of town, where three women have climbed onto its leg. The Wizard's assistant mentioned that the women are "possessed by magic" right before they commit suicide.

Dorothy asks Lucas why the Wizard wants her dead, but Lucas can only guess that Dorothy is somehow more dangerous than her. Instead of going to the Emerald City, Dorothy suggests they go to the Witch of the East's keep, where maybe she can use the storm brewing above it to get home.

The Wizard and his assistant Anna inspect the women's bodies and discover their fingers are black, indicating they came from the Witch of the West's brothel.

Lucas and Dorothy walk up to East's castles, but they are stopped by one of her guards. Before Lucas can fight him, the East's gauntlets appear on Dorothy's hand. The guard asks if Dorothy is his new mistress, and Dorothy replies that she is.

Tip and Jack arrive at a city and head into a bar for some food. Jack goes off to find an herbalist, while Tip struggles with her new body. Tip's waitress points out that some of the patrons are staring at Tip's chest, which causes Tip to have a meltdown in the women's restroom.

The guard introduces himself as Sullivan, the head of the house. Sullivan asks Dorothy to use her gauntlets to calm the weather, but first says that she must be purified and prepare for a ritual. Sullivan forces Lucas to disarm, but warns Dorothy not to be reckless.

The Wizard accuses the Witch of the West of causing the death of the three women, but the Witch claims she had nothing to do with it. She also points out that Anna's mother used to work for her, and that the Wizard had slept with Anna's mother in the past.

Dorothy dresses in one of the Witch of the East's (ruby) dresses and asks Sullivan to lead her to the small building where the tornado is looming over. The room contains a small lake with a monster swimming inside, but Dorothy manages to use the Witch's gauntlet to cross the lake and ride the tornado elsewhere.

The Wizard finds Anna and tells her that his real name is Frank Morgan. He explains that he wasn't born a Wizard, but worked hard to become who he is today. The Wizard says that the past doesn't define her, but rather who she wishes to be.

Tip and Jack finds an herbalist, who says he'll try to recreate Tip's medicine.

Dorothy suddenly finds herself standing in the middle of a creek, surrounded by wreckage. She realizes that a shirt in the wreckage once belonged to her mother.

Anna starts interviewing West's brothel to determined who caused the prostitutes' death. Meanwhile, West admits that she's glad the Wizard banned magic, as the magic was addicting and it couldn't even stop the Beast.

The herbalist explains that Tip's medicine was a magic elixir that hid her "true form". While Mombi may have given Tip the elixir to force her to be a boy, Tip was born a girl.

Anna explains that the Beast killed the women to prove a point to the Wizard. The women slept with men who were impotent, which was a metaphor for the Wizard. Anna goes on to accuse the Wizard of not being able to control his Warriors anymore, which is why he wanted Glinda to open East's Prison of the Abject. The Wizard "rewards" Anna for guessing the truth by imprisoning her.

Dorothy returns to the castle and learns from Sullivan that the debris all belonged to "interlopers" who had come from Oz from another place. The Wizard had used the tornado to send the "interloper" (Dorothy's mother) back to her original home. Sullivan pieces together that Dorothy is also an interloper and tries to kill her. Lucas tries to fight Sullivan, but Sullivan puts his sword to Lucas's throat and demands the truth. When Dorothy explains that East killed herself, Sullivan lets Lucas go. Lucas, Dorothy, and Toto flee the castle, just as the tornado consumes the small building it was trapped in.

Dorothy is upset that she can't find any answers, but Lucas convinces her to not give up hope. Dorothy decides that it's time to see the Wizard.

The Wizard's grand council determines that the Beast Forever will arrive in eight days as a hail storm of fire, and recommends the Wizard reanimate his Eternal Warriors. The Wizard then notices it's snowing outside, just as Anna predicted.

Eamonn finds a pill bottle belonging to Dorothy and realizes he's on the right path.

The episode ends with Jack trying to calm Tip down, as she's still upset that her whole life is a lie and that she can't return to being a boy. Jack suddenly kisses Tip, but Tip (understandably upset) pushes him away and accidentally shoves him through a fence, causing him to fall several stories.
