Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them is currently on the brain of most audiences, as it allows fans once again to enter into the magical world that will someday include a certain beloved wizard named Harry Potter. That being the case, it seemed like a fitting time to feature some equally enchanting artwork along the same vein.

That art belongs to Gabriel Picolo, who goes by Picolo-kun on social media. Picolo frequently updates his account with daily sketches, including a variety of artwork based on the world of Harry Potter. His sketches take on the appearance of an ancient tome of magic, either depicting a process, spell, or character from the Potter universe. The text displays how someone should approach said process or spell, which Picolo then blends with his interpretations of a scene from the films.
Take for instance his entry for Wingardium Leviosa. The text describes how to enact the spell with one’s wand, and what spell to say along with it, even going so far as to showing a diagram of how it works. With an almost watercolor-like effect, the scene shifts to Hermione attempting to teach Ron how to use the spell correctly. Unfortunately for Ron, her instruction doesn’t seem to be taking.
Another beautiful example is the Dark Arts Encylopedia entry for Dementors, those wraith-like beings who exist purely to extract the hope and dreams of those they encounter. The text on the side describes the soulless ghouls but then decays away into a horde of Dementors attacking Harry, or someone who looks an awful lot like him.
There are entries involving Occlumency (a tribute to Alan Rickman), Pets of the Wizardry World (featuring a certain pet owl), an entry on the Avada Kedavra, and a variety of other Potter staples like the golden stitch, potions, and mandrakes. You can view some of the highlights in the gallery.
