The Fate of the Furious is currently tearing up the box office, giving even the big hit that was Star Wars: The Force Awakens a run for its money. However, even with another successful notch on its belt, there’s still the looming question of how long the Fast and the Furious franchise should run.

Regardless of how haters and fans feel, the actual creators of The Fast and the Furious franchise have their own plan for where things should go – and how much gas the storyline has left in the tank. Now we’re hearing a specific timeline for how many more Fast & Furious films we’ll get, and some fans will be sad to learn that the end may be closer than they would hope.
Fast and the Furious producer Neal Moritz was talking with Collider, when he revealed that the current plan still follows the blueprint Vin Diesel once described: Fate of the Furious starts a new trilogy, which will end the franchise with Fast and the Furious 10.
According to Moritz, “We kind of have the ending point of the franchise, but we don’t know the in-betweens yet… Yeah, the plan is to make two more movies. That’s just all of us kind of putting our heads together and coming together with something that we think is very special.“
He went on to say that there are not any current plans to film parts 9 and 10 back-to-back – but that Charlize Theron’s Cipher is poised (though not contractually obligated) to be a major antagonist in the next two films; “The honest answer is yes. We would love [her] to be involved in the next couple of films. 100%.”
