Shane Black's The Predator is a highly-anticipated reboot of the popular sci-fi action franchise, brought to us by the man who made films like Lethal Weapon, Iron Man 3 and the original Predator into acclaimed genre movies. What we've learned about the film so far has been intriguing; The Predator has an impressive cast, and will begin production today!
UPDATE: In fact, as we wrote this, Shane Black released the very first Predator cast photo! The cast includes (from left to right):
- Sterling K. Brown
- Trevante Rhodes
- Boyd Holbrook
- Jacob Tremblay
- Shane Black
- Olivia Munn
- Keegan-Michael Key
The photo tells us a few things: we knew Holbrook and Rhodes were playing military types, and Munn is a scientist who bonds with Holbrook's lead character - but Key's role was more of a mystery. Clearly though, he's also going to be a military man - one wonders if his placement next to Munn says something about his assignment (guarding her)?

The most interesting thing we've learned about The Predator storyline so far is that it will be set in suburbia! With that suburban setting, some fans may worry that The Predator could end up being something less than sci-fi/horror fest that longtime fans expect; however, it's been previously confirmed that The Predator is going to be Rated R - and Shane Black recently confirmed, in no uncertain terms, that the movie will be the bloody, gory, experience that fans want.
And, just to be clear... PG-13 is for pussies. Spines bleed... a lot.— Shane Black (@BonafideBlack) February 18, 2017
After the experience of the AVP movies and their watered-down PG-13 rating, fans are going to love to hear this sort of hard commitment from Black, who states the case in a way that only Shane Black could. "PG-13 is for pussies," indeed.
