Sharknado 5 is set to debut on the Syfy Network on Sunday, August 6th, 2017. The film will air at 8/7c, so get your fingers ready to live-tweet the whole extravaganza.
The film entered production in early February, and apparently filmed in five different countries, including the UK and Australia. Given the ending of Sharknado 4: The 4th Awakens, this shouldn’t come as a surprise. The Eiffel Tower was seen ripping away from Paris and crashing down on Niagara Falls, indicating that the Sharknado threat will reach a global scale.
This was only echoed by Syfy’s newest synopsis for the film, which you can read below:
The pop culture phenomenon ‘Sharknado’ blows into town this summerโฆ and this time, the shark-infested storms pick up wind as the world braces for the inevitable โ a global shark takeover. Will our chainsaw-wielding hero Fin Shepard (Ian Ziering) and partner in crime April Wexler (Tara Reid) save the world from this jaw snapping-nadoโฆagain?
In addition to Ziering and Reid, the film is expected to feature former Sharknado stars Cody Linley, Masiela Lusha, and Cassie Scerbo, the later of whom appeared in the first and fourth installments as “bartender turned badass Sharknado fighter” Nova.
It’s unclear who else out of the film franchise’s expansive cast will return for the fifth film, as well as who will be among the new slew of celebrity cameos within the film. The only obvious cameo apparent on the film’s IMDB page is An American Werewolf in London star David Naughton, who will be appearing as himself in the film in some capacity.
Regardless, get ready for two hours of camp and fun when Sharknado 5 premieres on August 6th.
