Stallone teased the film during STX’s presentation at CinemaCon earlier this year, so his departure will surely mire the production. Directed by Jim Mickle, Godforsaken was to follow an ex-con who’s led a life full of regrets, who hears about his son’s death and aims to avenge his death, while also keeping his only remaining family safe. No answer has been given as to why Stallone left the production, but he’s left the crew in a rough spot, as the film was to begin shooting in two weeks.
Seeing what Jim Mickle did for older stars like Don Johnson and Sam Shepard in the noir revenge film Cold in July, this project sounded like a fantastic role for Stallone at this point in his career. Knowing Mickle, we’re sure he’ll find another great actor to move forward with the project.
