Writer/director Ana Lily Amirpour took the horror world by storm with her genre-defying vampire movie A Girl Walks Home Alone at Night, that was equal parts terrifying and romantic. When she announced that her next film would be an apocalyptic cannibal movie starring Jim Carrey, Keanu Reeves, and Jason Momoa, we couldn’t wait to see what she had in store for us. Luckily, now you can get a taste of what you can expect, as a new trailer for The Bad Batch has just been released.

The film’s official synopsis is as follows:

“The highly anticipated follow-up to Amirpour’s acclaimed directorial debut, A Girl Walks Home at Night, The Bad Batch follows Arlen (Suki Waterhouse) as she is unceremoniously dumped in a Texas wasteland fenced off from civilized society. While trying to orient her unforgiving environment, she is captured by a savage band of cannibals and quickly realizes she’ll have to fight her way through her new reality. As Arlen adjusts to life in ‘the bad batch’ she discovers that being good or bad mostly depends on who you’re standing next to.”

What makes Amirpour such an exciting filmmaker is that with her previous film, the plot could’ve been described as similar to countless other genre films, but what she put on-screen was fascinatingly complex. Clearly inspired by filmmakers like David Lynch, Quentin Tarantino, and Nicolas Winding Refn, the film is equally as gorgeous to look at as it is full of bizarre characters quipping clever dialogue over pop music.

As evidenced by the trailer above, The Bad Batch looks like another incredibly unique interpretation of a subgenre and story that might feel familiar, but will be shown in a completely new light.

The Bad Batch comes out June 23.
