Vin Diesel reportedly wants original Fast & Furious director Rob Cohen to return to the franchise to helm Fast 8, according to El Mayimbe of Heroic Hollywood.

In 2001, Rob Cohen (Stealth, Dragonheart) launched the car-racing series with The Fast and the Furious. The film earned $207M at the worldwide box office, against a budget of $38M. A new franchise was born! Plus, it made Vin Diesel, who portrayed Dominic Toretto a Hollywood A-lister overnight.

That's why you can understand why Diesel may be campaigning for Cohen to come back to the series. Loyalty! As El Mayimbe's sources puts it, "What better way to end the last Fast trilogy than with the director who jump started it."

As for the campaign, Diesel has been posting images of Cohen over the past few days on his various social media sites, like Facebook and Instagram.

Fast 8 is scheduled to be released in movie theaters on April 14, 2017.
