Fresh off his take on Deadshot in Suicide Squad – and the major flop that was Collateral Beauty – Will Smith looks like he’s found a new project.
The mega-star is now in talks to star in the live-action adaptation of Disney‘s Dumbo. Tim Burton is directing the film, and Smith is the first name to be attached from an acting perspective.

The production of Dumbo comes as no surprise, given that many of the Disney classic animated films are becoming live-action movies. Jungle Book was a total success, and it’s being followed by the highly-anticiated Beauty And The Beast this year.
Films like The Lion King, Mulan, Winnie The Pooh, and Pinnochio are all getting live-action version, while Maleficent and Jungle Book are getting sequels.
Tim Burton has recently directed Alice Through The Looking Glass – starring Johnny Depp – and this will continue his Disney adaptation run. The project seems to fit his unorthodox style, and hopefully the addition of Will Smith can help bring it to life.
Now that Suicide Squad and Collateral Beauty are behind him, Smith is working on a couple of new projects – none of which are remotely similar to Dumbo. The actor will be a part of Daivd Ayer’s Netflix thriller Bright, before turning toward his long-awaited Bad Boys 3. The Michael Bay franchise has recently been revived, and original stars Smith and Martin Lawrence are returning for two more additions.
The actor is also said to be circling a Deadshot solo film, which could interfere with the new Dumbo project.
