Power Rangers continues to impress in toy sales, and cases of counterfeit versions of them have been well documented. Few are as massive though as this latest batch caught by customs.

The Charleston Customs and Border Protection office seized over $121,442 thousand dollars worth of children’s toys on their way from China to North Carolina. Included in that haul were products bearing trademarks and copyrights to Cartoon Network, Apple, Danjaq, and Saban, which of course owns the Power Rangers franchise (via UPI).
Overall the batch included 284 cartons worth of toys, and 27 of those cartons held counterfeit items.
“Counterfeiting robs lawful rights holders of their unique ideas and the ability to make a profit from them,” said Robert Fencel, CBP Charleston Area Port Director. “It damages legitimate manufacturers and can harm consumers because manufacturers of counterfeit items have little motivation to use safe, high quality materials in their products. In essence, they’re trying to make a ‘quick buck’ off of another party’s reputation and ideas.”
Counterfeit Power Rangers and superheroes, in general, have become meme-worthy, thanks to their terrible paint jobs and odd naming conventions. At least Saban won’t have to worry about this group making it into stores.
You can find the description for the current season of Power Rangers Ninja Steel below, which is expected to return with new episodes later this year.
“With the franchise’s 24th season, Saban Brands’ Power Rangers Ninja Steel starts deep in space, where Galvanax is the reigning champion of the most popular intergalactic game show in the universe in which monsters battle to prove who is the mightiest warrior. Galvanax is determined to become invincible by controlling the mythical Ninja Nexus Prism, which contains six supernatural Ninja Power Stars. The only thing standing in his way is a new team of heroic teenage Power Rangers who possess it. The evil Galvanax sends his warrior contestants down to Earth to steal the Ninja Power Stars, where each epic battle against the Power Rangers is broadcast throughout the universe. Together, the Rangers must master their arsenal of Ninja Power Stars, Zords and Megazords, each made of legendary Ninja Steel, in order to stop this evil threat and save Earth from destruction.”
Power Rangers Ninja Steel stars Brody Romero (Red Ninja Steel Ranger), Calvin Maxwell (Yellow Ninja Steel Ranger), Chrystiane Lopes (Pink Ninja Steel Ranger), Hayley Roster (White Ninja Steel Ranger), Jordi Webber (Gold Ninja Steel Ranger), Caleb Bendit (Monty), Kelson Henderson (Mick Kanic), and Chris Sean Reid (Victor Vincent).
Power Rangers Ninja Steel is currently airing on Saturdays at 12 pm ET on Nickelodeon and returns with new episodes on August 12th. Power Rangers Super Ninja Steel hits in 2018.
