Rainn Wilson will reprise his role as Harry Mudd, a classic character from Star Trek: The Original Series. When last fans saw Mudd, Captain Gabriel Lorca (Jason Isaacs) and Lt. Ash Tyler (Shazad Latif) had left him behind, imprisoned on a Klingon ship, while they made their escape.

“Magic to Make the Sanest Man Go Mad” finds the USS Discovery crew trying to let loose at a party when Mudd arrives and somehow traps them in the time loop where they are forced to relive the same 30 minutes over and over again.

In a previous interview, Wilson teased that Mudd is still a little bitter about being left to rot in a Klingon cell.

“Well, we know that Mudd is not so happy being left behind in the Klingon’s prison,” Wilson said. “We know that Mudd visits the ship. And I think that sh-t is really gonna hit the fan. That’s about all I can say…I get to fire a phaser, Pretty awesome.”

Wilson is likely trying to make the most of his second appearance as Mudd, after all, with Star Trek: Discovery renewed for a second season, Wilson is aiming to get his own Harry Mudd spinoff.

“I said this to someone else in an interview, but I’m going to repeat myself because I think it’s a juicy one,” Wilson said. “This is what I would like to see in season two, episode four or so: They bump into Mudd, he’s got a merchant ship, he’s got a crazy crew on the merchant ship, and he’s getting into all kinds of trouble traveling around the galaxy trying to do little deals. And, boom! We’ve set ourselves up for a spin-off show. The Harry Mudd spin-off show. That would be my ideal.”

In the meantime, Wilson will just have to settle for torturing Captain Lorca the same way the original Mudd, Roger C. Carmel, pestered Captain Kirk in Star Trek: The Original Series.

New Star Trek: Discovery episodes become available to stream Sundays at 8:30 p.m. ET on CBS All Access.
