Captain La Forge will be featured in two episodes of the popular MMORPG game. The first will be released on September 12th to celebrate the 30th anniversary of Star Trek: The Next Generation. The second will be released in October as part of Star Trek Online‘s Season 14 update.
The episode releasing in September is a Star Trek: The Next Generation-themed event titled “Beyond the Nexus.” Players will team up with Captain La Forge and his crew as they investigate a distress call from a Galaxy-class ship whose crew is being mind-controlled by a mysterious energy source.
The episode includes the release of the Galaxy-class interior available for purchase and is accompanied by server-wide giveaways featuring the skant uniform from the first season of Star Trek: The Next Generation, as well as the Type 7 shuttle that also appeared on the series.
Star Trek Online‘s Season 14 update continues the story of the Tzenkethi war with a new featured episode titled “Melting Pot.” Captain La Forge and Captain Kuumaarke (voiced by Kipleigh Brown) accompany players as they beam down to a new colony world, featuring the recently reunited Kentari and Lukari people. After the events of “Mirror and Smoke,” they decided to reconcile their differences and start a new colony to celebrate the reunification of their cultures and technology. Geordi is integral to the development of this new colony world and has been working diligently with the Lukari to realize their dream. Things escalate quickly once the player beams down, and what starts as a simple tour evolves into a pitched battle for the survival of the colony.
Season 14 adds a brand-new fleet holding in a full-scale colony on the Kentari and Lukari’s new joint homeworld, which features five full tiers of progression and rewards. The update will also include a Tzenkethi Red Alert, two new fleet holding defense queues, a new colony map special event, and a new Primary Specialization called the “Miracle Worker.”
The news was announced by Perfect World Entertainment and Cryptic Studios at the Star Trek Las Vegas convention.
Star Trek: The Next Generation first premiered in September 1987. The show brought the Star Trek franchise back to television for the first time in 20 years. Burton was part of an ensemble cast that also included Patrick Stewart as Jean-Luc Picard, Jonathan Frakes as William Riker, Brent Spiner as Data, Michael Dorn as Worf, Gates McFadden as Beverly Crusher, and Marina Sirtis as Deanna Troi.
