More than any other series of its ilk, Star Wars is ripe for in-depth and fascinating fan theories that dip into years and years of novel and film lore. After the release of Star Wars: Episode VII – The Force Awakens, a litany of theories were released centeringaround the franchises’ newest protagonist Rey, who many theorize has ties to either Luke Skywalker, Ben Kenobi, or insert famous Star Wars character name here.
Another staple of the franchise is imagining what a hero might be if they drifted toward the dark side, something that was also explored in The Force Awakens with Ben Solo, the son of Han and Leia. Many are interested to see what Rey could look like if she drifted toward the dark side, and this splendid Cosplay from Anastasya Zelenova does just that.

No one drifts to the other side without an internal struggle, just like the one that Kylo Ren deals with in the film. The same can be said for Rey, who’s potential is vast. It’s no wonder the Sith want her on their side. The costume is a sleeker version of her current gear, with a black sash around her waist and the bottom part of her robe forming a slick cape-like effect. She’s added a few tattoos, and her single saber is now tinted red instead of blue like it was in The Force Awakens.
One of the best shots is the back to back image that places Zelenova’s Dark Rey against her light side counterpart, Cosplayed by Diana Anohina. Both are framed beautifully by photographer Denis Murin, who fills each scene with saber sparks, smoke, and stunning lighting.
We’ve included a few of the shots in the gallery, but Zelenova has plenty of other stunning Cosplay work in her portfolio, which you can find on Deviant Art, Facebook, Instagram, and Patreon. Make sure to also check out Denis Murin’s photography on his Instagram page and his official website.
