Jessica Bentley tweeted Mark Hamill to ask if she could dress up for a Comic Con as Luke Skywalker even though she’s a woman. The tweet reads, “@HamillHimself can I go to comic con as Luke Skywalker even though I’m a girl? I’m doing it anyways ๐Ÿ™‚ #wigsarefun.” A photo of Jessica is paired with the tweet as it shows the mother and self-proclaimed Star Wars fan donning a short wig while holding a green lightsaber.

As Mark Hamill is a very active Twitter user, he answered the fan with a perfect response. He wrote, “Gender matters not when you’re rocking’ the Force like you are, baby! #FantasicallyForcefulFemme #JoltinJediJessica.”

Surely, somewhere in the world, Jessica is fangirling hard as Mark Hamill shared his encouraging response with over 1.1 million followers on the social networking site.

This is not the first time that Mark Hamill has taken to Twitter to encourage his legion of fans. In a string of tweets last year, the actor helped fans one at a time verify whether their signed march bearing his signature was authentic or not. In his first tweet of the series, Hamill said he was, “so sorry there’s so many fans spending their hard-earned money for fraudulent signatures.” Later, he explained, “I owe it to all true fans to protect them from being victimized by dishonest dealers! #FightFraud #FansRule.”

At 64 years old, Mark Hamill is best known for portraying Luke Skywalker in the sci-fi phenomenon that is Star Wars. Hamill featured in George Lucas’ original film trilogy before returning to his infamous role when Star Wars: The Force Awakens was released last December. With Star Wars: Episode VIII slated for release in December 2017, Hamill will be reprising his role as fans are excited to see the film’s protagonist Rey train alongside Luke during his self-imposed exile.

For fans like Jessica, Mark Hamill’s words remind them of why they love the actor, and they bring joy to a fandom whose unabashed love of Star Wars can openly be celebrated regardless of fans’ size or even gender.
