If you went to see Rogue One: A Star Wars Story with a Star Wars Rebels fan, chances are they started bouncing up and down in their chair, freaking out and smacking your arm a time or two or three. While the Ghost flying into action during the Battle of Scarif and Chopper rolling by on Yavin-4 in the Rebel base were exciting, nothing quite made fans’ hearts soar like hearing over the intercom at the base, “General Syndulla, please report.” Those four words made fans instantly think: Is it true? Is Hera, the pilot leader of the Ghost crew still alive?

But after excitement came worry – could that have just been referring to Hera’s father, Cham, also a member of the Rebellion? Nothing to worry about, as it turns out, with Star Wars Rebels showrunner Dave Filoni coming to the rescue to confirm that yes, it was Hera being called to duty.

“I can clarify that’s absolutely Hera being paged, not her dad,” Filoni told EW. “The movie gives that away, but I would rather have all the [references] be right. Hera will eventually become a general in the Rebel Alliance.”

That’s huge news, as Rebels is still currently around three years in the past when compared to Rogue One. That means there’s a lot of story left to tell about Hera and the rest of the Ghost crew, Sabine, Zeb, Kanan, and Ezra, but we know that not only does Hera survive, she gets a hefty promotion and flies in the battle that helps secure the plans to the Death Star. Not bad for a young Twi’lek born to a homegrown revolutionary.
