It’s tough to say what Ron Howard’s recent strategies have been when it comes to revealing images and videos from the set of the Han Solo spin-off. While they began with very cryptic looks, they have started getting more and more obvious, including his most recent shot of Chewbacca on a monitor.

Previous glimpses of the set have been much more cryptic and open for interpretation, but this was clearly just a direct look at Chewbacca in the middle of what appears to be a crowded interior location. Back in July, Howard shared a similar look at Chewbacca on a monitor, but that shot appeared to feature the Wookiee much closer to another Wookiee, potentially hinting at an encounter with a member of Chewie’s family or a loved one.
Earlier this week, Howard posted one of the most interesting photos from the set, which featured an Imperial blaster and helmet on what appeared to be Imperial controls. While we shouldn’t expect to see Darth Vader in the upcoming film, this does reveal that Han won’t only be encountering other smugglers in his journey, but that the Empire will play at least some role in the prequel.
Additionally, speculation occurred over how similar the controls looked in the photo to the controls from the Death Star, making fans wonder whether or not the space station would make an appearance in the film. Considering Han’s shock at seeing the destructive creation in Star Wars, clearly he wouldn’t have direct involvement with it, but might hint at appearances by Vader or Tarkin in some capacity.
The Han Solo film will arrive in theaters on May 25, 2018.
Set prior to the events of Han Solo’s first appearance in Star Wars: Episode IV – A New Hope, the film stars Alden Ehrenreich as Han Solo, Woody Harrelson, Emilia Clarke, Donald Glover, Thandie Newton, Phoebe Waller-Bridge and Joonas Suotamo. The film is said to show how Han Solo and Chewbacca first met Lando Calrissian, played by Glover.
