The Star Wars universe continues to expand, via a new Mace Windu comic book series from Marvel.

Star Wars News broke the announcement, revealing the following details about the series to fans:

  • It’s Called Star Wars: Jedi of the Republic – Mace Windu
  • It’s a 5 issue miniseries
  • It will be released in August
  • It will be written by Matt Owens and drawn by Denys Cowan
  • The Cover Art (which you can View In the Gallery below) is by Jesus Siaz; variants will be done by Russell Dauterman, Rahzzah and Javier Rodriguez.
  • The book will chronicle Mace Windu battling in early days of The Clone Wars

For over a thousand generations, the Jedi have been the peacekeepers of the galaxy…but now, at the dawn of the Clone Wars, they find themselves in a new role: generals in the Army of the Republic. As Mace Windu, one of the Jedi’s greatest warriors, leads a small unit of Jedi into battle shortly after the war begins, the Jedi must make peace with their new role, or be lost to the violence around them!

In addition to this series, Marvel also has a new Darth Vader series, which follows his early days after becoming a cyborg Sith Lord.

A recent international leaflet for the upcoming Star Wars: The Last Jedi promises:

Star Wars: The Last Jedi, from writer/director Rian Johnson, is in post-production now for a December 15, 2017, release. The film follows-up and continues the story of the next generation of the saga as Rey, Poe, Finn, and Kylo Ren find their place in the galaxy and follow the legacy of Luke Skywalker, Leia, and Han Solo. Daisy Ridley returns to star as Rey, with other returning stars John Boyega, Oscar Isaac, Adam Driver, Domhnall Gleeson, Gwendoline Christie, Peter Mayhew, Andy Serkis, Anthony Daniels, Lupita Nyong’o Mark Hamill, and Carrie Fisher as General Leia Organa. Benicio Del Toro and Laura Dern join the cast in as-yet-unrevealed roles.

Star Wars: The Last Jedi is slated for release on December 15, 2017. Han Solo: A Star Wars Story hits on May 25, 2018, while Star Wars: Episode IX has a release date of May 24, 2019.
