It’s back to Concord Dawn and the Mandalorian Empire tonight as Star Wars Rebels returns after a week off to Disney XD for “Imperial Super Commandos.” The story looks to give us our best and deepest insight yet into the way Mandalore responded to Imperial rule, having teased it before. After all, we’ve known since early on that Sabine was once at the Empire’s Academy before leaving to join the Rebellion.

“Having lost contact with the Protectors of Concord Dawn, Sabine, Ezra and their captured leader Fenn Rau investigate, but find the base has been taken over by Imperial Mandalorians.

Fenn Rau returns on the next all-new episode of Star Wars Rebels that airs next SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 5 (8:30 p.m., ET/PT) on Disney XD.”

A second clip of the episode was released ahead of the return, as well, showing a quiet and contemplative moment between Fenn Rau and Sabine.

In the clip, titled “True Loyalty,” Sabine and Fenn play a Mandalorian game akin to chess; in a dance that’s no doubt familiar to them since “Protectors of Concord Dawn” last year, Fenn tries to explain to Sabine that the only loyalty that’s important is loyalty to Mandalore, and Sabine tries (and fails) to recruit him to the Rebel Alliance.

The episode will explore Mandalore during the time of the Empire for the first time in canon, something showrunner Dave Filoni has been teasing since Star Wars Celebration Europe in July. The backstory for Sabine “opened the door” to Mandalore, he said, and made them want to explore it.

Check out the clips above, and the gallery below, and tune in tonight for an all-new episode of Star Wars Rebels.

Star Wars Rebels follows the adventures of Hera (Vanessa Marshall), Sabine (Tiya Sircar), Zeb (Steve Blum), and the Jedi Kanan (Freddie Prinze, Jr.) and Ezra (Taylor Gray), a small crew that’s finding their way in the nascent Rebel Alliance a few years before the events of Star Wars: Episode IV – A New Hope. Executive produced by Simon Kinberg and Dave Filoni, the in-canon series helps to connect the worlds of the films and the previous animated series, Star Wars: The Clone Wars, with guest appearances so far by characters like Lando Calrissian, Ahsoka Tano, Darth Vader, Darth Maul, Leia Organa, Wedge Antilles, and more.
