When it comes to the newest Star Wars films, there is one character that’s captured the attention of millions. Supreme Leader Snoke made a shadowy appearance in The Force Awakens a couple years back, and Lucasfilm is set to bring the villain back in The Last Jedi. Over the past few months, fans have been stretching the amateur sleuthing skills to figure out what Snoke might be up to in the next Star Wars film. And, if one recent (and persistent) rumor is true, then the First Order honcho may come face-to-face with General Leia.
Recent, Nerdist reported on a viral rumor that made its debut over on Reddit about a week ago. A netizen created a throwaway account on Reddit before posting a slew of ‘Spoiler Dump’ posts online. In the first post, the user writes that General Leia finds herself captured after a raid by Captain Phasma and her new unit weakens the Resistance. After being taken, the report says Leia is boarded on the Star Destroyer which houses Snoke.
“Phasma presents her to Snoke. Snoke and Leia trade barbs and Snoke is angry by the mention of Luke returning by the end of the conversation. He has Leia thrown in a holding cell. He brings up Hux on a hologram and tells him to inform Kylo Ren they have his mother,” the user details.
Later posts then details the supposed interactions between Leia and Kylo Ren as the latter attempts to extract information about Luke Skywalker’s location.
For now, there is nothing to signal whether these rumors hold any credence, though fans online have said these reports sound more believable than any they read ahead of The Force Awakens.
Still, fans have agreed they would be interested in seeing Leia go up against Supreme Leader Snoke in some way. The shadowy villain has put a tight grip on the general’s son, and Leia has plenty of hurt stowed away about Ben Solo and his fall to the dark side.
Fans have also wondered if a previous interview with Oscar Isaac hints at such an emotional confrontation being true. In a talk with Business Insider, the actor did say that General Leia has a very intense scene which he bore witness to.
“It was basically my first day [on set] and we did about 25 takes total. Half of them were on me and half of them were on her,” Isaac, said. “I can’t give anything away but there was a scene where there was some physicality there and it was shot just over and over and over. She relished the physicality of it, let me just say. It was pretty intense. It will be funny to see what they cut together based on that.”
Star Wars: The Last Jedi, from writer/director Rian Johnson, is in post-production now for a December 15, 2017 release. The film follows-up and continues the story of the next generation of the saga as Rey, Poe, Finn, and Kylo Ren find their place in the galaxy and follow the legacy of Luke Skywalker, Leia, and Han Solo. Daisy Ridley returns to star as Rey, with other returning stars John Boyega, Oscar Isaac, Adam Driver, Domhnall Gleeson, Gwendoline Christie, Peter Mayhew, Andy Serkis, Anthony Daniels, Lupita Nyong’o Mark Hamill, and Carrie Fisher as General Leia Organa. Benicio Del Toro and Laura Dern join the cast in as-yet-unrevealed roles.
Star Wars: The Last Jedi is the next Lucasfilm movie on the calendar, set to release December 15.
