Fans have been speculating about the parentage of Star Wars’ newest protagonist, Rey (Daisy Ridley), almost as soon as she appeared onscreen. And while fans still have to wait a few more months to get any more clues in December’s Star Wars: The Last Jedi, some have begun placing bets on their theories.

The sports betting website SportsInsights recently discovered a betting market centered around Rey’s parentage, courtesy of the international betting website MyBookie. There, fans can bet money on the reigning theory surrounding Rey’s parentage – that she is the daughter of Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill).
The bet found its way to Hamill himself, who has pretty regularly trolled Star Wars fans with regards to Rey’s parentage. The actor tweeted about the topic, with hashtags possibly hinting that fans will learn the answer in December’s The Last Jedi, as opposed to Episode IX.
Hmm…I could make a fortune betting on this! (but I better remember to use a pseudonym) #ReysRelative #insiderKnowledge #MyBookie #WaitFor8 https://t.co/7N5AsXW66X

At the time of this writing, the betting market is fairly close, with “no” having a slight advantage of -130. For those fans who participate, it will add just another reason to anticipate the release of The Last Jedi.
