Before Luke Skywalker, before Darth Vader, one of the first things fans were introduced to in the original Star Wars film was the elite Stormtrooper, storming onto the Tantive IV to lay waste to Rebel troopers. While the Rebel forces looked somewhat familiar to real-world counterparts, as they wore military-looking clothes that were topped by sci-fi helmets, the nefarious Stormtroopers appeared as nearly indestructible killing machines during that initial siege, emblazoned in all white armor, showing that these troopers needn’t try to blend in or hide from anyone, intimidating anyone who stood in their way.

Over the course of eight Star Wars films, audiences have met all sorts of different types of troopers that are perfectly equipped to handle every situation they’re placed in. From the icy terrain of Hoth to the dense forests of Endor’s moon, you’ll find a trooper for every situation.
For a variety of different reasons, it seems as though for as many troopers there are, you’ll find just as many fans who show a predilection to which type of trooper is their favorite. Whether it be due to their aesthetic appeal or backstory of why those troopers exist in the first place, the troopers have become as iconic a part of the saga as any individual character.
Last week, we asked our Star Wars on ComicBook.com Facebook fans to weigh in on what their favorite type of trooper was. Scroll down to see how you ranked the troopers in the Star Wars saga!
3) Death Trooper
Introduced in the opening sequence of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, the mere visage of the Death troopers struck fear in audiences’ minds. Stormtroopers have long been known to wear bright white armor, so for this elite squadron to opt for a much less conspicuous outfit must mean they get themselves into some pretty serious situations.ย
Additionally, the squad of Death troopers appeared to be the go-to task force of Director Krennic in the film, who had proven himself to be a ruthless leader. Any trooper carrying out his actions must not be afraid to do whatever necessary in any situation, no matter how deadly or immoral.
Despite their intimidating appearance in Rogue One, the troopers didn’t get to display much of their treachery as many would have hoped in the film, making the troopers appear all the more mysterious.

2) Stormtrooper
Throughout the course of the original trilogy, fans got to see Snowtroopers, Scout troopers, and the classic version, the Stormtrooper.
The infantry members of the Galactic Empire might have appeared to be a force to be reckoned with, butย audiences saw countless troopers fall victim to the hands of the Rebellion. Even though these troopers might have appeared to be nothing more than fodder for the Rebels to cut through, one of the strengths of these troopers is that they were seemingly infinite in number. No matter how many were cut down by the Rebels, two more would spring up to take their place.
The classic Stormtrooperย model was given an upgrade with the creation of the First Order in The Force Awakens, proving that if a concept isn’t broke, don’t fix it.
1) Clone Trooper
Following the reputation of Stormtroopers being nothing more than targets in the original trilogy, the prequel trilogy showed audiences that the Clone troopers, which paved the way for Stormtroopers, were a force to be reckoned with.
Modeled after the bounty hunter Jango Fett, Clone troopers were created for the sole purpose of uniting together to take down any threat put in their way, even if it meant carrying out Order 66 and the destruction of virtually all Jedi. These troopers might not have been given much screen time in the live-action films, but the Clone Wars TV series allowed audiences to get even more familiar with just how strong these clones could be when united together, easily carrying out any mission they were given.
