Fear The Walking Dead Recap With Spoilers: Eye Of The Beholder

Madison, Travis, and Alicia are escorted by a military group down a path surrounded by dead bodies. A gate opens and they are brought into an area labeled as a restricted military base. Travis is separated from the group, yelling back to Madison that he will find her. Alicia and Madison drive one way while Travis goes another, each in cars with soldiers. A massive military base is revealed.

Travis is escorted through a bunker. There are no mattresses in the bedframes. He hears people screaming before getting shot. The soldiers joke about killing them with one shot and wrote the time of their deaths on their forehead. The soldiers quickly take Travis’ physical measurements and write “42” on his hand. They sit him down and pull and old man from the same room. He is scared. Travis looks around at the men near him, some are coughing and sick, others sit quietly. Behind a few people, Luciana and Nick and sitting together against a wall. Nick opens his eyes to see Travis.

The opening credits roll.

Travis tells Nick that his mother and Alicia were taken elsewhere. Nick asks about Chris, to which Travis responds negatively, indicating Chris died. Luciana wakes up to ask if he saw anyone at the border before resting her head on Nick’s shoulder again. Nick explains that he thought this place was a refugee camp but was wrong. Travis came looking for Nick and now he’s going to get them all out of here.

Elsewhere in the facility, Alicia and Madison search for weapons or an escape route. Alicia insists they shouldn’t have been looking for Nick. A soldier enters with coffee and food and asks Madison to sit. His name is Troy. They’re reluctant. He apologizes for the way they were treated and has a few questions. Madison says they came alone, looking for her son Nick. He asks why they were in Mexico and she says a friend had a place there. Madison pleads with Troy to let them go, saying his mother would search for him like she is for Nick but he says his mother is dead and he doesn’t get lost. He says that they will get squared away here and sent out on their own before exiting.

In the shower room where men are being shot. Soldiers discuss killing the men. This one took two shots. They taped his mouth and are waiting for him to reanimate. Suddenly, the dead man’s foot twitches and his eyes change. His resurrection comes at “17 hours” according to Troy.

In the holding area, Troy questions Travis about his ethnicity and then if he had communication with another country before it all went down. Nick questions Madison and Alicia’s location and Troy insists he is not a savage. Travis wants help for Luciana but Troy says everyone here dies.

Alicia and Madison continue to look for a way out. Alicia has a knife in her boot, which she offers to her mother. Madison insists that she will get everyone out, even if it means killing, which she will do herself.

In the holding area, a man introduces himself to Travis. His name is Steven and he says he can get them out. Soldiers suddenly come in and take Travis and Nick to shower area.They are in the midst of pushing one man against a wall as he struggles before shooting him. Nick and Luciana are scared but Travis is unaffected. Meanwhile, Madison and Alicia sit in their office area.

Later, the man has reanimated as Nick’s group looks on. Steven insists he is not going to go down like that. He reveals how he came to be here and convinces Travis to help them get out of the room. The soldiers come in and say they have to be out in 24 hours. They want to start with two victims today. Travis is still unaffected by the people around him dying.

In the office area, Alicia and Madison sleep on the couch and chair while Troy writes notes beside them. Troy says they passed the processing but Travis has different criteria. “I’m not a bad person,” Troy insists. Madison asks if he Travis is dead and Troy asks if it would hurt her if he was. She says she loves his life more than her own.

In the shower area, the soldiers debate which body will reanimate first. They start explaining the dead to Travis and how their senses work. The bodies outside the facility are to keep the dead away. Travis tries to reason with the men and questions why the other men at the facility don’t know what’s going on here. One soldier insists it is murder for science. They question whether or not Travis has killed anyone and he says, “No one who didn’t deserve it.” The soldiers get frustrated and elect to shoot Nick but Travis volunteers, aggressively. The soldiers bring him to the other side of the room where Travis attacks one and Nick attacks the other. The now reanimated man on the ground bites one soldier while one gathers himself to see everyone has fled the room.

Troy offers Madison to take her home with him. All Madison wants to know is whether or not Travis is alive. Troy promises to release him if she comes with him. They hear a gunshot and Troy runs out of the room. Travis directs Nick to get Luciana to safety. Travis stays back to fight some soldiers. Nick and Luciana run down a sewage system. Steve gets shot above it and the soldiers slash his throat before tossing him in after them and saying, “Happy hunting.”

Travis is being escorted through the bunker again, where Troy asks what happened. He is angry that Travis interrupted his tender moment with Madison and tells him he will take Madison and Alicia home. Troy directs the soldiers to take Travis out back. 

Luciana tells Nick, “I’m slowing you down!” He insists he will not leave her behind. 

Troy enters the office again where Madison was waiting to try and stab him. He catches her and a fight ensues. Madison reaches for a spoon and jabs it into his eye before sending Alicia to find a vehicle. 

Outside, a helicopter flies over Alicia. It’s raining now.

Reunion

Nick and Luciana continue through the sewage system. They come to an opening. After pushing the wall off at the end, Nick sees a massive herd of walkers approaching. 

The soldiers guide Travis to a herd of walkers in a pit.

Madison is now surrounded by soldiers with Troy as a hostage.

Travis fights the walkers off with cinder blocks, construction tools, and his bare hands. He puts up an impressive fight, smashing heads with his fists and driving others into a rock wall. The soldiers sarcastically look on. Travis tosses his block at them. They open the gate which was holding the dead back.

Madison talks with Troy, who is now saying that Travis is going to die. Troy’s brother starts to reason with her and insists he will help find her family. Madison lets him go and he tries to attack her. Jack, Troy’s brother, pulls him off and asks where her family is, learning Travis is in the pit.

In the sewage system, Nick is attacked by the now reanimated Steven. Alicia hears it from above and tries to help. She drops her knife to them and Luciana takes the zombie out. Alicia is grabbed by soldiers as Nick looks on. 

Madison arrives at the pit, where Travis has killed all of the walkers. He is helped out and quickly attacks Troy. Travis tells her Nick is here just as Alicia is brought to her. Moments later, soldiers bring Nick back and the three Clark’s share a hug.

Heading Out

Jack tells Madison and Travis about his father’s ranch and insists they had that way. He says Troy is the only man who has bad intentions. Madison demands their guns back.

Madison thanks Travis and apologizes to him for the loss of Chris. “I’m here. You’re family’s here,” she said. Travis tells her, “We’re gonna be back in it, soon. I’m okay now. I’m with you.” Though, he is acting quite disconnected. 

In the bunker, Jack approaches a now patched up Troy. Jack is not happy that Troy killed people. He lashes out on him and Troy is unaffected by it. Troy insists he will only tell their dad what he has learned. 

Inside, the soldier who menaced Travis in the shower area packs his things and heads out. He stops to look at the bloody walls with a grin before hearing some rumblings from within a wall. He investigates it, curiously. A horde a rats emerges from the vent in the wall. The soldier looks more closely and is pulled through the wall by an incredibly strong walker. 

Jack pleads with Madison to come with her. They hear a gunshots before noticing a herd headed their way. Madison gets the car keys and rounds up her family. They take out a few walkers with various weapons as they help each other get to the truck. 

Jack takes off in the helicopter. 

Travis helps Alicia escort a faint Luciana to the helicopter. Travis begins shooting walkers. Alicia and Luciana are in the helicopter which now has its doors closed. Madison and Nick are saved by Troy who calls them to the truck. Travis boards the helicopter and watches as Madison becomes further away. 

As the truck drives away, Troy tells Madison, “We’re all going to the same place now.” 

Travis looks on and sees Madison’s truck escape.
