A new behind-the-scenes video from The Walking Dead‘s Episode 7×06 shows the extra bit of teamwork between the cast and crew required to take down a zombie.

In the ‘Swear‘ episode, Alanna Masterson‘s Tara Chambler resurfaced (literally) at the Oceanside community. It all played out through a series switches between real time and the past throughout the episode. In one sequence, Tara and Heath found themselves trapped on a bridge with a horde of sand covered zombies chomping at their feet. When one nearly grabbed Tara, she kicked it in the face repetitively until its entire head was bashed in.

That sort of action doesn’t come easily on the set of The Walking Dead. It takes a team effort between Masterson, VFX guru Greg Nicotero, and the rest of the team.

The video below showcases how the moment is brought to life.

Nicotero has always been known for his extra effort when trying to bring zombies (back) to life on The Walking Dead. Serving as executive producer on the series, he takes pride in being creative with walker kills and detailed make-up, even when the horde is of countless size.

It sounds like he’ll have his hands full when the show returns, too, though the zombies seem like less of a threat than humans over the next eight episodes.

The official synopsis reads:

Rick’s group will find out yet again that the world isn’t what they thought it was. It’s much bigger than anything they’ve seen so far. While they have a singular purpose – to defeat Negan – it won’t come easy. More importantly, victory will require more than Alexandria. They need the numbers of the Kingdom and the Hilltop, but, similar to how Rick felt, Ezekiel (Khary Payton) and Gregory (Xander Berkeley) do not want bloodshed. To convince them otherwise will take more than speeches. The lengths Rick and the group will have to go to in order to find weapons, food and new fighters is nothing short of remarkable.

We’ll meet new survivors in incredible places. We’ll see Rick and the group tested in ways we’ve never seen before. We’ll see treachery from people we trust.Rick is confident as he will see his group and many others band together with the common goal of taking down Negan. But no amount of planning will prepare the group for all-out war with Negan and his army.
