The Walking Dead finale generated quite a bit of buzz online, and fans seemed to love the action-packed episode. With all of the chatter surrounding the episode, it was the most-watched since the fifth week of the season.

‘The First Day Of The Rest Of Your Life’ was watched by 11.3 million people, earning 7.1 million viewers in the 18-49 age range. That sounds good compared to the rest of the season, but it’s actually a giant step down for a finale.
After 5.97 million viewers in the season one finale, and 8.99 million in season two, The Walking Dead has grabbed over 12 million viewers in each finale since. Well, each finale before this one.
Season finales three through six gained 12.40, 15.68, 15.78, and 14.19 million viewers respectively. When looking at nothing but the finales, this was definitely hurtful for the largely successful series.
Hopefully season eight – and the coming war – will help bring more life to the waning ratings.
Overall, The Walking Dead has stayed steady throughout most of the season. After a drastic drop in the first couple of weeks, it seems like the show has found its stride. Here’s out the ratings look throughout all 16 episodes.
