For fans of The Walking Dead, it’s hard to imagine the show without Rick Grimes. The two go hand-in-hand at this point. Ever since the opening scene of the series, viewers have known that it has always been about Rick. Many actually believe that Rick is the only character on The Walking Dead who could never die.

Well, Andrew Lincoln – who portrays the intimidating leader – seems to think otherwise.

In an interview with LA Times this week, Lincoln opened up about his long-standing role is Rick Grimes. He talked about the difficulties of filming such a devastating season, and he dropped a bit of news that might worry fans.

Linclon says that now, for the first time, he believes Rick Grimes could potentially be killed on the show.

“I’m the dude that woke up in the hospital in the very beginning โ€” I’d like to think there’s a bit of job security there,” Lincoln said. “But then suddenly Negan turns up, with that crazy baseball bat, and all bets are off. Don’t get me wrong. I think Rick is very much in the fabric of the show. But then, so was Glenn. We’re all expendable on this show.”

Lincoln was actually scared of Rick being killed earlier this season. After it appeared that Michonne had watched him die in ‘Say Yes’, the actor went into a bit of a panic.

Friend and co-star Norman Reedus said he had to talk Lincoln down after they read the script.

“I remember him calling me in a total โ€ฆ panic,” Reedus stated. “I had to talk him off the ledge after he read that script. We were on the phone for a couple of hours.”

This certainly doesn’t mean Rick will die anytime soon – After all, he’s still alive in the comics – but it does mean that the guy should start watching his back.
