Fear the Walking Dead‘s second season concluded with an emotional montage of Madison’s group in a school bus and Nick’s failed attempt at crossing the U.S. border. Backing the montage was a sublty emotional tune, setting the tone for the brutal moments our survivors were experiencing in the closing moments.

The song played at the end of Fear the Walking Dead‘s second season, the two-hour finale of paired episodes “Wrath” and “North” was Mirel Wagner’s “Goodnight.”

The song is a quick, melodic poem. Here are the lyrics:

Hmm, goodnight, I love you, darling, goodnight
Goodnight, goodnight, may the stars shine bright

Goodnight, my darling, goodnight, goodnight, goodnight
I’ll push down the pillow with all of my might

Goodnight, goodnight, the stars are so bright
And I’ll hold down the pillow with all of my might

Tomorrow, tomorrow, will be alright
Together, forever, now and through time

Just in case you want to listen to the song again, it’s also available on YouTube.

The Walking Dead universe is no stranger to using music to set the mood of its scenes. Bear McCreary’s ominous score helps build The Walking Dead and Paul Haslinger keeps it up on Fear the Walking Dead. However, several songs with lyrics have helped drive episodes, such as the Governor’s return in The Walking Dead’s third season being accompanied by “Last Pale Light in the West” by Ben Nichols and Carol’s baking scene in Not Tomorrow Yet played out to Parsonfield’s “Weeds or Wildflowers” and the episode concluded with Hozier’s “Arsonist’s Lullabye” helpign deliver the full impact.
