Fear the Walking Dead hasn’t been quite as deadly as its older sibling The Walking Dead but it has managed to kill off a few key players in its 13-episode run so far. Notable deaths from the first season and a half include Travis’ ex-wife/Nick’s mother Liza and Daniel’s wife/Ofelia’s mother Griselda.

Heading into the second half of Fear’s second season, the group is scattered into three groups (assuming Daniel died in the midseason finale because he would make a fourth). Nick is out on his own though he may be the most prepared for survival out of everybody. Chris and Travis isolated themselves for everyone’s best interest. Ofelia, Alicia, Strand, and Madison are headed back to the Abigail yacht in hopes of finding a sanctuary elsewhere.

In addition to new communities with beliefs similar to those of the late Celia, new threats will be added into the mix, as well as lots of walkers at the ready to chomp on our group of west coast survivors (all seen in the Season 2B trailer).

With The Walking Dead, fans are able to predict deaths because it is based on a series of comic books. Fear the Walking Dead‘s audience doesn’t have that advantage so any character deaths come completely unexpectedly. So, when the group comes together again (likely in season three), there will probably be a much different family dynamic.

On the following slides, we make our picks for the most endangered characters in its second half of season two.

Chris or Travis

FTWD Travis Chris

ย

The father-son duo of Travis and Chris decided that it would be in everybody’s best interested if they ventured out on their own following the Abigail estate’s demise.ย

Chrisย started to go a bit off the deep end while aboard the Abigail yacht. He saw what the world was coming to and found himself in a kill-to-survive mentality. It was something his father largely disapproved of which only sent their relationshipย further from salvation. Even after Chris killed a defenseless hostage, Travis held out hope for his son’s sanity.

It wasn’t until Chris stood over Travis’ girlfriend and her daughter with a knife that everyone really began to question his well-being, though. Plus, to top it off, Chris went off on his own and held a young boy and his father hostage while Travis searched for him. It was clear he was unhinged and a risk around anyone.

With the two having such different views on survival, it’s unlikely they’ll both survive the season.ย Should the showrunners feel they have something to prove in terms of willingness to kill a lead character, Travis better look out. However, if haste and overconfidence has taught us anything in the world of The Walking Dead, it’s that it often times proves costly, which would spell trouble for Chris.

Madison

ย

Killing Madison would not only pack some interesting shock value for audiences but it would force the biggest character evolutions for those who survive her death.

Right now, Madison’s deepest relationship seems to be with Strand despite having two kids to look after. That said, one of them is off on his own trying to be one of the undead and the other is a teenage girl who does anything but listen to what her elders tell her to do. Still, Alicia looks up to her mother and relies on her guidance for a survival.

With Madison’s death, Alicia would be forced to build new relationships and survival skills. Nick would be left wondering if there was anything he could have done to prevent her death after choosing to leave.

For Alicia, Madison’s death would be similar to the situation Ofelia is in right now, having recently lost both of her parents. Which brings us to our next slide…

Ofelia

ย

“She is at a point where either she is gonna be broke or she’s gonnaย pull a Carol fromย The Walking Dead,” Mercedes Mason says of her Ofelia character heading into the upcoming episodes.

Ofelia lost both of her parents in the first 13 episodes of Fear. Prior to the apocalypse, she based most of choices on what her parents would want her to do. Now, she is realizing that the sacrifices she made were largely for nothing.

ย

“In her mind, she’s absolutely orphaned,” Mason says. “I know she can survive but it’s gonnaย be, ‘Does she want to?’ It’s all psychological at this point. Does she want to go on? If she does, how is she gonnaย do it or is it, ‘You know what? I have nothing else to lose. Bring it.’ She’s literally been shot, she’s lost her mom and her father. She’s lost everything she loves and she doesn’t trust these people. Bring it. What else could possibly happen to her? I think when you have nothing to lose, you have nothing to lose so there is no fear. I think that could be the other option. She’s either gonnaย do herself in or she’s gonnaย become Carol.”

It’s become Carol or bust, in Ofelia’s case.

The New Guys

ย

Any time a new group of characters comes into a Walking Dead show, they’re usually in trouble. If they’re friendly, they likely have their lifestyle disrupted (see: Alexandria or Abigail estate) and if they’re foe, they would have to kill our entire group to survive (see: Woodburyย or Terminus). That never ends well for the new guys.

Based on the Season 2B trailer for Fear, the new guys are going to be foe.ย

Whoever is running into Nick likely won’t kill him off and terminate that story line, so they’ll probably end up running into peril themselves one way or another. Best guess: Danayย Garcia’s Luciana characterย comes to the rescue in heroic introductory fashion.
