Last week, fans saw The Walking Dead return for Season 7 with a rather shocking episode. The grisly premiere completed turned Rick's gang upside-down as Negan showed the group his power. Before the episode even premiered, hype over the series was at an all-time high, prompting AMC to confirm that there would be a Season 8 of The Walking Dead. And, now, we have learned one new actress will be joining the series when that season airs.

According to People, Maria Bello will have a part in the show next season. "I am obsessed with the show," Bello told the magazine. "I have a friend who's a producer on it and I've asked them to write me a part, which apparently they are for next season."

The actress continued, saying, "Even if I just play a zombie. I said, 'I'll just come out and play a zombie for an episode, I don't care!' But it is my favorite show."

If you are not familiar with Bello, then you should know the actress is best-known for her work on ER. She played Dr. Anna Del Amico on the drama from 1997-1998 before she went on to star in Touch with Kiefer Sutherland. Most recently, Bello can be seen in the original Amazon series Goliath. Known for her love of melodramas, Bello is definitely eager to sink her acting chops into a heart-pounding series such as The Walking Dead.

Obviously, there's no word on what role Bello might play or how often the character will be seen. It seems rather unlikely that she will play a one-off zombie given her resume, but fans should be on the lookout just in case.

There's also little information currently available about Season 8 overall. Since The Walking Dead is just two episodes in to Season 7, AMC has plenty of time to tease fans about the show's future. Typically, the series returns for its new seasons in mid- to late-October every year, so we'll keep that target in mind.

Later tonight, the second episode of The Walking Dead's Season 7 will air. The official synopsis for 'The Kingdom' reads, "For a number of familiar faces, a new, well-established community seems too good to be true."

Based on the comic book series written by Robert Kirkman and published by Image Comics, The Walking Dead reigns as television's most watched drama for adults 18-49 and tells the story of the months and years that follow after a zombie apocalypse, and follows a group of survivors, led by police officer Rick Grimes, who travel in search of a safe and secure home.

"The Kingdom" will air Sunday, October 30 at 9/8c on AMC.
