The night before The Walking Dead Season 7 premiered on AMC, the Internet was in an uproar following what looked like a major leak from the returning episode.
In a low quality video, Negan brought his bat down on the skull of Maggie Rhee, who then looked back at him and spit blood at the villain before taking another finishing blow to the dome.
Negan actor Jeffrey Dean Morgan was asked about the footage while talking to the Howard Stern Show during The Walking Dead's prodction off-season.
"I did kill shots on the entire cast," Jeffrey explained. "I think the plan was, they would leak some stuff beforehand just to throw people off because there are people whose sole purpose is to ruin the show, to spoil what's going to happen on the show."
You can catch a look at the leaked Maggie scene in the video at the top of the page.
Some of the "kill shots" made their way to television in The Walking Dead's Season 7 premiere when Rick's imagination ran wild as Negan tormented and broke him down. However, the full clip of Maggie (or anyone besides Abraham or Glenn, for that matter) dying never made its way to television.
Greg Nicotero told ComicBook.com in an interview after The Walking Dead's Season 7 premiere that the crew had filmed deaths for each of the major characters except for Rick. Andrew Lincoln never had to get hit with the bat but he did get his revenge for the dark place Nicotero sent him to for the returning hour. After production wrapped on set, Lincoln took the prop Lucille bat which spits out blood upon impact for extra effect and delivered a few blows to Nicotero's head in good fun.
