"Leave it to Carol Peletier to demonstrate her kitchen wizardry by whipping up a unique batch of cookies from the limited resources available in Alexandria. With beets and flour made from foraged acorns, these unlikely delights boosted morale among her new neighbors and cemented her persona as the perfect homemaker. Much like the woman who baked them, though, these treats use their unexpected sweetness to hide what really lurks within."
That's a real excerpt from a real The Walking Dead cook book, offering a recipe for Carol's cookies. Apparently, Carol had quite a slew of ingredients handy in her apocalyptic setting to whip the cookies together for Alexandria, as the first page to be revealed from the upcoming book details everything required.
In the gallery below, the cover of the book and Carol's Cookies page are visible.
All you need is a dozen different ingredients, an oven heated to 375 degrees, and some baking sheets and you can have the cookies which Sam's nightmares were made of (before he was eaten by zombies).
It's a seven step process which calls for allowing the cookies to cool for safety before eating them! Check out the full recipe as it will appear in The Walking Dead's cookbook in the gallery below.
Other recipes in the cookbook will answer the undying questions of how to craft Daryl Dixon's famous Deer Stew and Maggie's Forkless Apple Pies. Fans of the popular AMC series will be able to eat like their favorite zombie apocalypse survivors which, for some reason, sounds delicious when described by this cookbook.
The Walking Dead's cookbook is written by Lauren Wilson of Brooklyn's Rose's Bar and Grill, offering "vital information on foraging, hunting wild game, and cooking outdoors in an emergency walker situation," in addition to the recipes. You can pre-order it on Amazon now. It's currently 10% off, but pre-orders get the best price between the day the book is ordered and the release date on October 10th.
