Spoilers for The Walking Dead 8x01.
The Walking Dead returned with an explosive season premiere, and at least one member of Team Family was left in a troubling situation: after risking his life to save cowardly Hilltop figurehead Gregory (Xander Berkeley), Father Gabriel (Seth Gilliam) found himself face-to-face with a massive horde of Walkers overtaking the Sanctuary, lead there by a plan headed by Alexandria leader Rick (Andrew Lincoln).
Gabriel makes his way into the only available asylum, a nearby trailer, but he's not alone — Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan), bat-wielding leader of the Saviors, already took the hiding spot. The episode ends, leaving fans to wonder: is this the end of Father Gabriel?
AMC has released a promo offering a teasing look at what's ahead in season 8 of The Walking Dead, but Gabe is nowhere to be seen. The priest's fate is just one of the many questions raised by the action-packed 100th episode, and the internet had a lot to say about all of the twists, turns and teases found in the season opener.
